Woodbridge By Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir 2009
After lightly crushing the grapes, we fermented the must (juice and skins) with a selected yeast strain in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Depending on the vineyard’s personality, we pressed the wine between 0º and 5º Brix (sugar reading) for brighter fruit character, and then the young wine finished both primary and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Aging with French oak from a variety of coopers added an array of sweet oak spices for flavor complexity
Thirty years ago, Robert Mondavi set out to establish a wine culture in America by putting great California wine on every table. Invigorated by the success of Robert Mondavi Winery in the Napa Valley, in 1979 he established the Woodbridge Winery near his childhood home of Lodi, California.

Stemmy and lightly smoky with cranberry and smoldering herbs on the nose. Bright yet a touch sweet on entry with simple yet clean red fruit flavors accented with the stemmy smoldering note of the nose. The finish is a touch sticky though the fruit gains a little more depth adding some nice plum and dried citrus peel/clementine notes. This is a bit clunky, the tannins a bit tough but it’s well made and defect-free. Totally unremarkable yet this offers good value. 84pts
I was suprised. I tried the Robert Mondavi reserve Pinot Noir 2009 and commented I would not repeat. I liked this wine, The touch of smoke adds to the enjoyment and the price makes it a good buy.
One of my favorite wines to keep around the kitchen. Delicious with red meat and good conversation.
A little watery, nice aftertaste.
