Woodbridge By Robert Mondavi Pinot Grigio Hrzn 2009
We crafted this wine in a classic northern Italian style that brings out Pinot Grigio’s delicate, fruity character. After gently pressing the grapes, we cold-fermented the wine with a special aroma-enhancing yeast strain. Then we aged the wine on the yeast (sur lie) to develop the silky texture. Because Pinot Grigio’s fresh flavors are best enjoyed while young, the wine was not barrel aged.
Thirty years ago, Robert Mondavi set out to establish a wine culture in America by putting great California wine on every table. Invigorated by the success of Robert Mondavi Winery in the Napa Valley, in 1979 he established the Woodbridge Winery near his childhood home of Lodi, California.

This white wine gets a little extra substance from being aged on the lees. Nice acidity plays off tropical fruits and herbal aromas.
Woodbridge has done a really good job at producing an ultra-dry, crisply acidic white wine of the type California needs. With elegant flavors of citrus fruits, flowers, cinnamon and a touch of honey, it's a superb by-the-glass sipper. Sommeliers should buy this by the case.
Made in a very dry, very crisp style, making it different from the run-of-the-mill, slightly sweet PGs, and that makes it a really nice wine. With rich citrus, fig, melon and spice flavors, it's a great cocktail sipper, and will go with a wide variety of food. Easy to find, with 300,000 cases produced.
A mildly herbal, grassy style, finishing with hints of lime and grapefruit. A lighter-bodied wine, quite refreshing.
