Though the 11 percent alcohol suggests that there is some residual sugar, this wine strikes the palate as dry, tart and earthy, with substantial extract and concentration.

Citrus is the name of the game here, from understated citrus-rind aromas to dry, zesty grapefruit and lemon flavors. Itrsquo;s bright and has the roundness in the mouth seen in a lot of 2003 Rieslings. Tiny spritz on the finish, plus citrus and stone fruit.

Bright and racy, a jazzy mix of apple, peach and slate aromas and flavors, lingering nicely on the clean, dry finish. Has room to grow. Drink now through 2010.

Winemaker's Notes:

Wolf Blass has been crafting some of Australia's very best wines for over thirty years. Their strong focus on careful fruit sourcing, fermentation, maturation and blending delivers lifted vibrant fruit flavours, a soft, rounded palate and well integrated tannins that are the hallmarks of the total Wolf Blass range. The Wolf Blass Gold Label provides a premium drinking experience across regions and varietals. The wines created for the Gold Label range are an ever-evolving proposition: emerging varieties, groundbreaking techniques, and the most progressive regional styles are incorporated into the range as they become available. All vineyard parcels are kept separate until final blending and bottling and production levels are dictated by vintage quality. The Gold Label Riesling is sourced from Clare Valley and Eden Valley, and it is pale with vibrant green hues. On the nose it shows intense lemon and limes with an attractive blossom lift. The palate follows with plenty of citrus fruit, gentle spice and a chalky acid structure which gives the wine a clean and lengthy finish. Enjoy with seafood, roast meat and salads.
