Smoky, leather nose....acidic crisp bite, and slightly creamy. Slight butter but not too heavy on oak. $11.99 retail....an interesting and nicely balanced Chardonnay from Australia.

Fairly average Aussie white. Not bad but nothing to get really excited about, simple entry level Chardonnay at an inexpensive price. Not too acidic and has enough buttery taste to make it worth coming back to for an easy glass.

Aromas of buttered toast and roasted nuts lead the way, but theyrsquo;re bolstered by ample pineapple and citrus flavors on the palate. Full-bodied, with a soft, easy-drinking finish.

This is a lighter-style Chard thatrsquo;s pleasing and easy to drink. Light nut, floral and white stone fruit aromas lead to a palate thatrsquo;s full of chalk and almond-like flavors, finally finishing with some pear.

Bright and tangy, juicy with apple and citrus flavors, which echo on the lively finish, balancing its acidity nicely so itrsquo;s just present, not overly sharp. Drink now.

Soft pear juice flavors combine with the pure vanilla scent of the oak to give this wine a round, sweet finish. Thatrsquo;s framed within a pleasant earthiness, balanced for roast chicken with herbs.

A bright pear and cinnamon nose opens this attractive, medium-weight wine. The palate shows peach and pear flavors, supported by brisk mdash; some might say sharp mdash; acidity, but flabby it isnrsquo;t. Shows good balance and a nice long spicy finish, where the oak comes on strong.

Wolf Blass wines have never been meek, and this chardonnay turns out a stylish, sophisticated performance, bold in every way. Itrsquo;s a complicated wine, and it gets more complicated as it takes on air. The sweet fruit element includes flavors of peaches and pineapple, and livelier aspects of green apple (try that for a fresh fruit salad). The barrel fermentation wrests additional flavors from the ripe fruit, adding scents of brown sugar, hazelnuts, and mineral aspects from the yeast lees. Irsquo;d score this higher if it didnrsquo;t have a slightly bitter finish. You might score it higher if you like sequins, tap shoes, and bold Australian chardonnay.
