Wither Hills Sauvignon Blanc Wairau Valley 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2006 season was extraordinary in many ways - among the driest, certainly the earliest and without doubt, one of the best for fruit quality. Harvest commenced on 8 March, around two weeks earlier than normal. We experienced blue skies and very warm temperatures in January and through to 21 February, when temperatures cooled, which was ideal for flavour development. Cool evening temperatures of late February and early March enabled our Sauvignon Blanc to develop all of the gooseberry, citrus and tropical flavours that have made Marlborough famous. In keeping with our philosophy that the finest wines are always created from exceptional vineyards, we focused on retaining the characters that we’d tasted in the berries on the vine, ensuring that the distinctive qualities of great Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc were preserved.
