Wisdom & Warter Fino Pale Sherry NV
OK, I'm no expert on sherry, altho my parents used to drink the stuff pretty regularly - Harvey's Bristol Cream was their favorite, I believe. This - Wisdom & Warter's Extra Amontillado - was one of Astor's offerings at $9+tax. The price has since gone up, but is still reasonable. It starts out mild with a flavor like watered-down cognac, then shifts to some sharp sourness and a nutty finish. There is some complexity (that is not totally harmonious) and an undercurrent of sweetness. Fairly light on the palate, and with a mild aftertaste. No regrets about this purchase.
External Reviews for Wisdom & Warter Fino Pale Sherry
The Wisdom & Warter firm was began in 1854 by two Englishmen, and continues today to make high-quality Sherries. This Amontillado is medium-dry, with notes of hazelnut and mocha. Aging has given this Sherry a special elegance.
