Wirra Wirra Shiraz Mclaren Vale 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

RSW is the pinnacle of Wirra Wirra Shiraz and represents the best Shiraz of the vintage from their McLaren Vale vineyards. It is a dark concentrated wine with flavours of blackberries, aniseed and bitter chocolate. The oak is almost totally French and mostly new.93 points - Gary Walsh, www.winefront.com.au

A bit sweet and chocolaty on the nose, there is a nice core of berry fruit here along with leather, very fresh ginger and nutmeg spice. Medium-bodied and a bit chunky on entry, this feels closed in the mouth though it does exhibit fine balance between the ripe tannins and somewhat soft acidity. The finish is short and clean, again there seems to be an inherent freshness here that is quite attractive. A moderately long, spicy finish brings out some plum skin fruit. This is ordinary today, but has great potential to improve in the cellar. 87 pts

Blackberry jam and a bit of spice on the nose. Deep dark chocolate, full bodied with nice acidity.
