Winking Owl is a value-priced brand of wines produced in California. It’s a private label of Aldi supermarket chain (originally based in Germany, now scattered throughout the US). The wine under $5 wine is their equivalent of “Two Buck Chuck” and has garnered a devoted fanbase for its value.
sweet berry on the nose, red licorice with spiciness and a soft oak on the tongue. I liked it! Not bad for Aldi's!
I LIKE IT. GREAT WINE FOR THE PRICE
I really like this wine, I have been drinking it for a couple of years and I think it is the best one that Winking Owl makes and tastes as good and better than some much more expensive wines I've tried. I too would like to see them try a Pinot Grigio or a Sauvignon Blanc.
I sure would like to see a blanc or pinot grigio from Winking owl, Are there any??
I just tried it for the first time. I am used to decent red wines like Robert Mondavi, Kendall Jackson, usually ordered out for $10.00-$15.00 a glass. This has a wonderful oak flavor and is really nice and the price is fantastic at $2.69! Would buy again! Very Pleased:)
My husband and I love wine and just recently started going to the Aldi's store in our area. We just happened to see this wine and thought for the low price we could not afford to "not" try it and we were very pleasantly surprised. We both would describe it as full bodied will have it with our steak dinner tonight! We will definitely buy this again.
