Ognoas seigneury dates back to the 11th or the beginning of the 12th century. Ognoas is a Marsan viscounty, which, in 1240, by the wedding of its viscountess Mathe de Mastas with Gaston VII Moncade, is part of Béarn viscounty heritage since 1607. Ognoas seigneury dates back to the 11th or the beginning of the 12th century. Ognoas is a Marsan viscounty, which, in 1240, by the wedding of its viscountess Mathe de Mastas with Gaston VII Moncade, is part of Béarn viscounty heritage since 1607. In 1274, Arnaud Bosquet is the only "Ognoas Lord". In 1770, Etienne Lormand buys Ognoas seigneury. In 1775 his son extends the domain buying Tampouy seigneury. In 1847, the latest member of the Lormand family, without heir, donates the property to the Church. The Aire-sur-Adour diocese will own the place until the 1905 law when episcopal properties are transferred to the Departments. Since then, the 565 hectares estate is under to responsability of the " Conseil général des Landes " who has chosen to manage it as an exceptional and outstanding showplace of the " Landais Terroir ".
