Wine Guerrilla Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley Two Vineyards 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

2006 ’Two Vineyards’ Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 77% Zinfandel, 16% Cabernet & 7% Petite Sirah. Perfect with food or without..you decide. Actually a blend from three vineyards...but hey...we’re winemakers not mathematicians!

Wine Guerrilla is a hero to those who seek wines of unabashed uniqueness and character. Wherever proud zinfandel grapes are oppressed and the taste buds of consumers are in peril, Wine Guerrilla is there. The name, “Wine Guerrilla,” reflects a unique approach to winemaking and marketing. Having begun as a broker of fine small-production artisinal wines, Wine Guerrilla brings together a vision of a reasonably priced premium wine with a passion for California’s native grape, zinfandel, a knowledge of the Sonoma region and existing relationships with many of the county’s best-known growers. The result is something special. Wine Guerrilla operates on a singular mission: Finding the very best zinfandel grapes, and crafting wines worthy of the grape’s unique characteristics, and introducing those wines to the public. And eliminating the final barrier to instant wine-drinking gratification, Wine Guerrilla wines are bottled with easy-to-open screwtops. Read less

Red fruit, tar and licorice on the nose, with an underlying sweet raspberry tone and nice earthy spiciness are well balanced. Soft tannins and good acidity in a relatively medium weight frame help support nice wild raspberry and wild cherry fruit. This is definitely red fruited and quite fresh in the mouth if a touch simple though the fruit and spice follow through well on the decent length finish that offers up a touch of candied apple. 87pts

Spiced red fruit aromas. Flavors have a bit of a plastic film on them which distracts from the enjoyment, but past that there's a lot of fresh red berries, oak and medicine. Long finish.
