Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

With brilliant complexity for the price, the Windy Lane Meritage (rhymes with “heritage”) kicks off with a rich, herbal-based aroma, and continues with heady spice and black fruit notes. Supple tannins and deep velvety mouthfeel — this wine feels like a $30 Médoc. Try it with grilled steak flanks, lamb chops or hearty mushroom-based vegetarian dishes.

This is a classically styled California blend of Bordeaux varietals. It is composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a hint of Cabernet Franc for backbone and structure. Rich and full bodied with black currant, juicy raspberry and just a touch of green pepper. The finish is soft and caressing, with velvety tannins and a smooth, creamy oak. This wine calls for a thick cut filet mignon or braised spareribs.

A marriage made in heaven or at least made in two of California’s prime wine regions: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Red Hills vineyard and 40% Merlot from Oak Knoll. Dark black fruit gives it the strength and character coupled with the cherry and tobacco flavors and then the blue fruit kicks in softening it up and leaving the finish smooth and satisfying. Try it with red meats, pasta dishes in a red sauce and firm, fleshy fish.
