Wind Gap Syrah Sonoma Coast 2008 750ML

Winemaker's Notes:

Our third installment of this cool climate beauty is even more provocative that the first two. 2008 was a cooler vintage than both 2006 & 2007 and this wine expressed that point of fact proudly. Once again utilizing three exceptional sites that naturally produce this 'style' of Syrah, this wine represents what Wind Gap Wines is all about! Unabashedly Californian, clearly representing the absolutely coldest and windiest parts of California, each of these sites is farmed to ridiculously low yields and are consistently the very last vineyards to be brought into the winery. There are very few if any Syrah sites in the state that get this amount of Hang-time. Please remember this isn't a forced style or some change of heart or a dramatic style or any other headline, this is the most representative wine from these sites that we can put in a bottle. Relish that fact...I think they call that Terroir...

Tasting Notes:

Fragrant tiny black berries, white pepper, nutmeg, cured meat and a cool leathery spice dominate the aromas of this bright and lively wine. In the mouth this wine is textured and supple with dark fruit, spicy stems, tart cherries, mouth-watering acidity and ripe fine tannins that cleanse your palate. This wine can't be confused as anything other than Syrah. It will age effortlessly and continue to improve in your cellar for a decade or more.
