Wilson Creek Viognier Chloe Vineyard 2011

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Really grapefruity and fairly cat pee like on the nose with a dried apricot underlay. This reminds me very much of Sauvignon Blanc. Light and rather fresh on entry, this is lightly flavored with less overt Sauvignon character in the mouth, but it’s not particularly Viognier like either. A bit neutral, fresh and easy to drink. Apricot and floral notes emerge on the back end before reverting to grapefruit pith and gooseberry on the finish. 83pts

Nestled at the end of Rancho California Road in Temecula Valley lies our family estate vineyard and winery. When the Wilson family acquired a 20-acre winery in 1996, our intentions were simple. We wanted to run a fun, family business producing great wines from the conducive climate and soil of the Temecula Valley. In fact, the only previous winemaking experience in our family was Gerry and Rosie Wilson's attempts to make dandelion and rhubarb wine in their basement in Minnesota! We've come quite a long way. Visit our section on Winemaking to meet our winemaker and to learn about our winemaking process. The challenge of the vineyards has won over our entire family. You can usually find Gerry is in the tasting room or at the NEW Creekside Grille, while Rosie cooks lunch every day for our staff. Bill is the General Manager who oversees the vineyard and winemaking while his wife Jenifer coordinates the Gift Shop. Libby Wilson Johns takes care of weddings and her husband, Craig, helps with large special events. Mick oversees the Wine Club and marketing, while his wife, Deanna, handles Personalized Label design and distribution. If you have visited the winery, then you have seen the fabulous pavilion and gazebo and jazz stage. Weddings are our specialty, and we have had hundreds of amazing weddings. Plan your next private event with us or to attend an upcoming winery event. Be sure to join our Wine Club to begin enjoying the special privileges of being part of our extended family. Read less
