Wilridge Red Blend Columbia Valley Mélange 2000

Member Review by RPerro:

Decanted 30 min. Color is dark ruby, starting to brick at the edges. This smells amazing! Huge fruit aromas, very sweet, with some earthiness in there too. The attack is somewhat bitter, needing a bit more air to open up. Midpalate is full-flavored, although a tad thinner that I had expected from this blend. Great fruit, lots of blackberry jam, with a nice earthy component. This is very rich, just coating the mouth with flavor.

Wilridge Winery is a small winery located in the historic Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Wilridge Winery specializes in hand crafted wines made from selected single vineyard sites in Washington state. The grapes are picked in the Red Mountain, Yakima, Walla Walla, and Columbia Appellations. They are crushed, pressed, and aged in new French oak barrels at the winery. Current production includes Washington State Reds: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Sangiovese, Melange, Nebbiolo, and Whites: Semillon, Viognier and Pinot Grigio. Unlike many wineries that produce only blends, Wilridge Winery specializes in single-vineyard designated wines. We endeavor to make wines that illustrate the unique terroir of their vineyard sources.Over the years we have developed close relationships with the owners and managers of some of the best vineyards in the Pacific Northwest who share our goal of producing the best possible wine without compromise. The following vineyards have earned a place in our single vineyard program because they consistently provide Wilridge with exceptional fruit. Read less
