Willowbrook Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast Kastania Vineyard 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes on the Willowbrook Pinot Noir Kastania Sonoma Coast 2005 : CALIFORNIA GRAPEVINE REVIEW: 91 POINTS Medium-light ruby; attractive, spicy, plumy, toasty, raspberry and sweet cherry fruit aroma with hints of rhubarb; medium-full to full body; rich, elegant, cedary, smoky, well focused, bright cherry fruit flavors with a trace of vanilla; well balanced; medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Deserves some bottle aging, but also very enjoyable to taste now as it developed and improved with airing in the glass. Very highly recommended. 14.6% alcohol; 302 cases; 100% PN; released May 2007. 2007 California Grapevine December 2007-January 2008NVWE NOTES: This impressive young Pinot is sweetly oaky, deep and as complex as is to be expected from its famous fruit source. The aromas are of dark brandied cherry, mocha, smoke, vanilla, dates, traces of caramel, dry rose, leather, white pepper and earth. It has a wonderfully sinewy mouthfeel and its fruit is just as palate coating. The finish is long and still a bit tightly wound, but the dark cherries and spice are already making their presence known. Attractive now with a rich stew or roast, it will be even more so in another three years. 302 cases produced.WINEMAKER NOTES: The Dijon clones form the backbone of the wine, providing a bold character and abundant currant, coffee and cola notes, with a strong black cherry finish. The Pomard clone added elegance and class to the wine, along with aromas of cedar, mushroom, intense floral notes and bright sweet strawberries on the palate. 302 cases Alcohol Content: 14.5% Joseph C. Willowbrook Cellars:
Since 2001, Willowbrook Cellars has been producing premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley. Willowbrook Cellars wines may occasionally be found in gourmet restaurants and in specialty wine stores, but, because of the small production, most of our sales have been generated by word of mouth.

This is a Gold Medal Wine Club selection from their Pinot Noir series wine club. The Willowbrook 2005 Kastania Vineyard Pinot Noir is an impressive achievement from this extremely limited production winery. Medium-light ruby in color, this Pinot exudes hedonistic aromas of cedar, sweet strawberries and dark cherry nuances with intriguing floral notes. Deep, complex flavors of currant, coffee and cola blend with a tantalizing spiciness and cedar undertone that’s full of finesse and an excellent representation of Kastania Vineyard’s caliber of fruit. This Pinot Noir is as bold as it is elegant and will pair beautifully with a wide array of meals including grilled salmon, lamb, and vegetable lasagna.

Pinot Noir Shootout~ Male: Medium ruby in color. Ripe cherry aroma with oak and vanilla notes. Soft attack with good acidity and ripe fruit flavors. There is a spicy edge to the finish and a touch of heat. Female: Meaty, cherry nose with some savory notes. Powerful palate with excellent fruit concentration. Well integrated savory wood on the very long finish. The tannins are a bit drying and the alcohol is a tad high but the power of the fruit balances the wine. 300 cases
