Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Allen Vineyard 2004
Bright Maraschino cherry, strawberry, violet and root beer aromas. Intense cherry and wild raspberry flavors end up round and fat in the mouth. The wild berry flavors are complemented by the rose water and mocha explosion in your mouth and the creamy textured tannins that finish long and juicy across your palate.
Smooth gradient from the outer rim to a beautiful garnet center. Mostly clear but with a gentle 'Pinot' haze. Raspberries on the nose and just a whiff of woodiness. Rich raspberry flavor up front with a subtle acidity that provides a well balanced finish.
Whiffs of sour fruit follow musty mushroom beginning, as spice, then black cherry and blackberry notes emerge, with hints of mustard, asparagus and lilac blossoms. A bit of rose, grass, and tarragon decorate the complex bouquet as it shifts from sour to sweet over 10 seconds. The palate provides an equally interesting journey. Peppery heat on the attack, with cherries emerging from smoke. A woodsy center sustains during a pleasant linger.
