Winemaking for the vintage was focused on meticulous fruit sorting and
concentrating flavors, resulting in wines of fullness and length. Our Pinot
noirs across growing regions have fruitiness of intensity and purity; our
Russian River Zinfandels are ripe and typically powerful; our Russian River
Chardonnays are particularly aromatic and finely structured.

- Good medium red. High-toned aromas of cherry, faded rose, cinnamon and autumn leaves. Supple and appealing, with bright raspberry flavor, good texture and sound acidity. Not as sharply delineated as some of the '99s from farther north but has no shortage of complexity. This is a cherry-picking of the best barrels from the new owner Vista Verde Vineyard in San Benito County. Given today's overheated California wine prices, this is good value in pinot noir.
