What to Expect

Chablis is a region of France's Burgundy region responsible for some of the most distinctive expressions of the Chardonnay grape. On the limestone rich soils of the area, Chardonnay produces wines that can be steely, yet rich with orchard fruits and mineral tones. Unlike the typical white Burgundy, most Chablis sees little or no new oak which allows the grape to express itself with a purity that barrel aging can obscure. Often quite reticent in their youth, Chablis may require several years of ageing in order to be able to fully express the depth and richness it keeps in reserve.

Reviews

IWC 93-96 (12/2006): Pale, green-tinged color. Pure but subdued nose hints at minerals and lime, with flint and quinine emerging with aeration. Penetrating and powerful, with superb cut and grip (Fevre's holding high on the hill always gives a youthfully tight, fresh style). Wonderfully silky and suave grand cru, finishing with great palate-coating dusty stone and uncanny mineral persistence. "
