What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

At a time when everyone seems to be producing "Monster Zinfandel," Wild Horse is pleased to offer a wine that actually complements your meal rather than dominating it. Sometimes referred to as claret in style, our Zinfandels offer up textbook raspberry/sage notes and a pleasing finish with good acidity, making it an ideal accompaniment to a wide variety of foods.

Our 2004 Paso Robles Zinfandel is a purebred original. Our varietal snobbery prevailed in this luscious wine, bringing forth true Zinfandel flavors and aromas of dried cherry, blackberry, white pepper, sage and dark chocolate. The wine achieves a beautiful balance on the palate, with a rich, creamy middle and vibrant acidity. Enjoy this delicious wine with a wide range of succulent meats, including grilled sausage and polenta, peppercorn steak and raspberry glazed prime rib.
