Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. Due to the small berries and low yields of 2002, the wine is richly extracted with chewy tannin, bright acid, and dark color. Aromas include mocha, cherry truffle, and a sweet oak tone, while on the palate; this wine shows flavors of black raspberry,spice, and a lingering brown sugar finish. The big, balanced structure insures this wine will become more soft and complex with longer cellar ageing.
