Whitehaven Wine Company was established in 1994 by majority shareholders, Greg and Sue White, and winemaker, Simon Waghorn. For Greg and Sue, the move to Marlborough was a classic lifestyle change after careers spent in financial markets and marketing. For Simon, the motivation was the pursuit of quality winemaking within a company structure where he could share in the success of his efforts.

Wine Tasting NotesLight straw, with lemon-lime tones. Vibrant currant-leaf and gooseberry aromas, some pungent herbaceous nuances, and a hint of ripe citrus. A full flavored medium bodied wine, with an abundance of currant and gooseberry flavors, and a clean, lingering finish.
A lovely expression of Sauvignon Blanc, this bottling features the classic notes of gooseberry and cut grass on the nose but in a cool, ripe register that also hints at white cranberries with crisp citrus notes. In the mouth this is a textbook Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, zippy with lovely citrus flavors supported by bright acidity in a medium-bodied style, finishing dry with a subtle mineral note that makes this is a natural match for lighter summer fare.
