Editorial Reviews for Whitehall Lane Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Silver Anniversary Reserve
Classic aromas of light dill, and even oregano, enmeshed in slightly charry Marshmallow vanilla oak. Under that blanket there are balanced and promising notes of bell pepper tinged red cherry fruit. In the mouth his is smooth and velvety with a sweet, easy character and good length to the somewhat simple toasty, black cherry fruit. There's a bit of raspy tannin on the finish but nothing offensive. A solid, if small scaled, bottle of Cabernet. 87pts

Add your reviewSilver Oak wines are supple, fruitful and deliver richness wrapped in good American oak. Critics suggest that because of its 65,000 plus case production the wine no longer merits cult status or the premium price it once fetched. I will agree that the label might not be a cult must, but it still delivers a great glass of wine; delicious and vibrant with pretty mocha cassis, plum and oak. While it's not an over-achiever in its class, it is correct and sound, and deserves better grades; after all it is Silver Oak...
Cedar, oak and herb on the nose, with maybe some savory notes of black olive. Full of clean ripe fruit - fairly mellow at 6 years old but still a little spicy. Deep and dark, with great balance of fruit and leather, good tannic structure and a fine, chocolatey finish.
Lots of oak and tobacco in the nose, kind of smells like an old man's den. Reasonable attack with a fairly mild body compared to the nose, very dry midpalate, with some volatile kiwi/banana aromas that come out in the back.
Lots of oak giving the wine vanilla and dill notes. Dried cherry fruits dominate. Dry, dusty, finish with strong cedar notes.
Nicely balanced and well rounded. Smooth mouthfeel. Nice. - Tasted at winery 4/21/10

The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley (by the way, all of the Alexander Valley offerings are 100% Cabernet Sauvignon) has a big, sweet, oaky nose and a seductive panoply of spices from cedarwood to plum pudding and fruitcake notes. It is a sexy, sensual, broad, flavorful Cabernet lacking serious depth, but offering attractive fruit, plenty of ripeness, and a big wallop of American oak. Drink it over the next decade.
Good deep red-ruby. Dark berries, black cherry and licorice on the nose, with a less exaggerated oak element despite the fact that this was aged in 95% new American barrels. Not particularly sweet, but the mid-palate offers better grip and lift than the 2004, with laid-back flavors of currant, plum and tobacco leaf. Finishes with substantial, slightly dry tannins and good persistence. Incidentally, the production of this wine was increased in the early part of this decade and is now in the 75,000 case range.
The 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley is light and overtly herbaceous. The wine is certainly soft and fleshy with good fruit, and is undoubtedly very much in the style of the Alexander Valley, but it does not have much weight, density, or thickness. This wine will be ready to drink upon release and is probably best consumed during its first 8ndash;10 years of life.
The Alexander Valley cuvee is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in new oak. The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley offers abundant quantities of spice, vanillin, cedar, herbs, and smoke, soft, round, creamy-textured flavors, good black cherry and currant notes, and a spicy, medium-bodied, easy-going personality. Enjoy it over the next 7ndash;10 years.
It has a dark garnet color and a nose of black cherry, clove, cinnamon, lavender and licorice. It is seamless on the palate with a solid core of berry fruit, velvety tannins and excellent length.
A classic Alexander Valley cabernet, this is dark and cedary, and as smooth as velvet. The tannins last, built on black cherry-skin flavor and earthy, root-vegetable notes. With time, that black cherry flavor should become more prominent, balancing the wineandrsquo;s earthy complexities. Drink this over the next several years with anything meaty, from duck and game birds to steak.
