This was an excellent wine. Very dark ruby/violet color, this wine had darker flavors than the Alexander Valley selection and was not as fruit-driven. Loads of black-currant and other dark berries, roasted coffee, coccoa and vanilla flavors. Very long finish. The tannins were more apparent and the wine seemed heavier in feel and not as velvety. This wine clearly needs more time to mature.

I decanted this wine for 2-3 hours. It was great as usual, but I would suggest cellaring it for a few more (2 or 3) years. The cab was bold and tannins were present. Black cherry, hints coco notes, faint raspberry, made it very enjoyable.

Wine Spectator ReviewRated 91Dill, lavender and mocha scents are followed by a trace of coconut and layers of spicy currant, herb, sage and plum flavors. Very rich and concentrated. Impeccably balanced, with a long, persistent aftertaste that keeps echoing fruit and oak. Some will find the oak excessive, others just the Silver Oak signature. Drink now through 2012.

This wine has great balance, expression of fruit, depth and length on the palate with beautiful integration of tannins. This lovely Cabernet will continue to improve through 2025 with proper cellaring.
