Wine Tasting NotesThis offering is a classic Bordeaux blend that displays balance between ripe fruit and power. It has deep color and attractive aromas of mulberry, blackberry, spice and vanilla. This elegant wine is round and supple with flavors of berry, plum and mocha that linger beyond the long, polished finish. Enjoyable now, this wine also has the structure to make it a candidate for graceful aging.

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes on the Whitehall Lane Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 : WINE ENTHUSIAST REVIEW: 93 POINTS Aloof now, this Cab holds you at a distance with its provocative tannins. But it's a very fine wine that shows real Napa pedigree. Balanced and harmonious, it features complex flavors of blackberries, cassis and cedar wood that turn sweet on the finish. Should be at its best between 2010 and 2013 and then slowly fade away. -S.H.NVWE NOTES: This is an impressive Cabernet Sauvignon, with a core of dark cherry and mocha to support its aromatic veneer of blueberry, blackberry, vanilla and Sandalwood. It has polished tannins and a fine supple texture, but also lots of body to support its sweet dark cherry and berry flavors. The finish is rich in oak and has plenty of firm, lingering, youthful fruit to push back the tannins. The soft-edge typical of its vintage makes it a fine sipper, but it has the class to handle elegant cuisine as well, and the concentration to suggest that more improvement lies ahead.WINEMAKER NOTES: Balance and finesse are prominent in this classic Cabernet. From the enticing aromas to the long, smooth finish, this wine is captivating and delicious. It's a blend of lush fruit with aromas of deep blackberry, currant and toasted oak. The wine has rich texture and flavors of cherry, plum and toasty vanilla. With ample fruit, good weight in the mid-palate and velvety tannins, this beautifully balanced wine is ready to enjoy now, but with aging potential to 2014.The Vintage 2005 was an outstanding growing year that began with cool, wet weather, followed by mild summer months. With ample moisture in the soil and warm days, the fruit ripened slowly and evenly. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were harvested from late September through much of October as the flavors in each vineyard block ripened to perfection. The yields in general were a little higher than normal giving the winemaking team lots of great fruit to work with. Winemaking The grapes were grown in vineyards located in St. Helena, Rutherford, Calistoga, Yountville and Oak Knoll. The fruit was fermented at an average of 85-degrees F with gentle pump-overs for excellent flavor and color extraction. The wine was aged in a combination of American and French oak barrels for 19 months and blended to attain balance. Merlot increased texture and softness on the mid-palate and Malbec added complexity and additional layers of ripe fruit flavors to the wine. WHITEHALL LANE NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2005
