White Hall Vineyards Petit Verdot 2012

Member Review by worldsmith:

Heavily fruited on the nose with ample cherry and berry notes. Very well-integrated tannins.

1. 2007 White Hall Vineyards Petit Verdot – Monticello (13%) – No time for those boring, structured, establishment-loving notes, this is the real deal. This Petit Verdot was outstanding. Bold yet smooth, lively yet velvety. The finish was long lasting, yet subtle. For such a young red, it needed zero decanting. Full, immediate, lasting pleasure. Lamarr: High A Hector: A (it was really f-ing good, “Rich, ripe, dark berries with a velvety mouth and a white chocolate finish. Absolutely no bite.”) Alastor: A- Margot: A+ (compared to what I’ve tasted before) Pearson: A (mellow, mid-length finish, subtle, not gonna smack you around, yet a pleasure to drink)

White Hall Vineyards has been winning awards and this is a good example of why. Smooth as velvet and about as full in the mouth too. I just could not get enough of this wine. I loved it with a dish of pesto, oil and fresh pasta.

The deep purple color forshadows deep intense aromas of dark berries, raspberry jam and violets followed by flavors of blackberries, blueberries, currants, spice and earth. The 2005 Petit Verdot was fermented half in small bins and half in the French delestage method and was aged in French and American oak. Deep color, rich flavors of fruit and spice, and smooth tannin structure make this varietal one of the White Hall favorites. Blend: 78% Petit Verdot, 17% Merlot, 5% Tannat
