Falanghina is a variety that has become very popular, especially in the last few years. Most versions can be cloylingly sweet, but not here. Taburnorsquo;s 2007 Falanghina reveals white peaches, crisp green apples, mint, wild herbs and minerals on a silky-textured frame. This is a reference-point wine for what Falanghina can be at its most elegant and refined. Anticipated maturity: 2008ndash;2009.

Therersquo;s an added layer of yellow fruit on the nose that recalls ripe peach and Golden Delicious apple. This inviting Falanghina is creamy and smooth with persistent sweet peach flavors.

The 2008 Falanghina Taburno shows off layers of tense, mineral laced fruit that seem to never end. This is an especially taut, focused Falanghina built on a core of persistent minerality that avoids the cloying sweetness that is typical of so many other Falanghinas. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014. Fattoria La Rivolta is an excellent source for delicious, value-priced wine that deliver tons of varietal character.
