Whetstone Pinot Noir Pleasant Hill Vineyard Russian River Valley 2012

External Review by We Speak Wine:

Aged in 40% new French oak barrels, sur lees. Gorgeous dark cherry in color. Big, luxurious nose of dark, ripe cherry, tangerine, bergamot, and floral notes of rose petal. Secondary hints of orange pekoe tea, Chinese Five Spice and a touch of tarragon. Big, silky flavors of dark cherry and blueberry with afterthoughts of bright pomegranate and tangerine tea, and a big finish of Bing cherry and Baker's chocolate. - Winery Alcohol: 14.8%

Hello and welcome to Whetstone Wine Cellars! I wanted to invite you to a glimpse into our short history in order that you might better understand where we’re coming from and where we’re headed. So here goes… I started working at Turley Wine Cellars in the summer of 1998 when I semi-jokingly told a friend I’d do just about anything for a shot at winemaking (be very careful what you ask for.). Over the following 6 & ½ years I would plant 30 acres of hillside vineyard, become fluent in Spanish, help manage over 200 organically farmed acres of grapes, become assistant winemaker, start my own label, and begin consulting full time. Turley provided for me a venue to do all those things with a continuing education in hands-on farming and meticulous, cutting-edge winemaking. To further enhance my small winery experience, I went to work in Burgundy for Domaine Dujac during a short stint in the summer of 2001. These days I am full-time debtor for Whetstone, CEO and Co-Founder of Manifesto! Wines, and a consulting winemaker for JT Wines. My love for wine has taken me down several paths that have ultimately merged in the form of Whetstone Wine Cellars. Offerings will consist of Pinot Noir, Syrah, Viognier and Chardonnay. I appreciate your interest in our site and in our wines. Stay tuned… Sincerely, Jamey Whetstone Read less

Good ruby-red. Captivating aromas of briary black cherry, licorice, cola, brown spices and musky earth. Sweet, fresh and tightly wound, with crunchy dark berry, spice and cola flavors framed by firm-edged acidity. Finishes classically dry, with subst... Stephen Tanzer. Good red-ruby. High-toned briary black raspberry and flowers on the nose. Sweet and silky, but with enticing clarity of blackberry flavor. Finishes with suave, ripe tannins. Turned a bit liqueur-like with aeration. Stephen Tanzer. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2004 Whetstone Pinot Noir Pleasant Hill Vineyard 750ml
