Wente Vineyards Chardonnay Morning Fog Livermore Valley 2016

Member Review by vin0vin0:

Decent Livermore chardonnay, some honey, lemon brulee, a bit of oak and a smooth texture. Not very complex or minerally, subdued acidity and not much of a finish but a fairly good wine for the price.

Christmas 2013, Binny's. Super Bowl party. 1/2 bottle leftover in the refrigerator. Sampling the remainder tonight, 2/3/2014, it will have to be better than the football game. Horrible contest.

Creamy start, followed by spices and a short tart finish. Yummy!

Definite cream and butteriness here on the nose and a bit of toast brings on a very soft mouthfeel that is smooth on the finish...easy drinking and big enough to stand up to some food!

I am not a white wine lover. That being said, I really loved this wine. Creamy, buttery, and a heavenly nose of crisp apple made me want to drink down the whole bottle.

I had this wine at Russell’s Steak Chops & More and it paired up very nicely with their Shallow Poached Atlantic Salmon. This wonderful Chardonnay was aged in both French oak and stainless steel barrels showing a different complexity that grew on me throughout the night. Bright and crisp acidity at first almost reminded me of a Sauvignon Blanc but towards the back of the palate it left a smooth and soft finish. The nose reminded me of standing on the boardwalk at the Seaport District in New York; vibrant sea salt and orchid. I loved every moment of that night and savored every last drop of the wine.

Wente is well known for its Wente clone, a popular sight in many a California Chardonnay vineyard. This flavorful example is compellingly rich and textured, yet modest in alcohol, with a happy apple, melon taste and a bit of an exotic lift on the finish, possibly from the 2% Gewuuml;rztraminer thatrsquo;s blended in.

This 2004 Chardonnay is a great example of the Livermore Valley terroir. The red apple fruit and medium acidity from the grape balanced with the graham cracker oak and a slight buttery finish bring together the best of both worlds, in terms of ways to craft Chardonnay.

Shows lots of sophistication at a good price. Brimming with ripe peach and mango fruit, therersquo;s a richer streak of butter-sauteacute;ed banana, finishing with caramelized honey. The wine is quite dry, even minerally, and modest in alcohol, only 13.5%.

Enjoy aromas and flavors of green apple and tropical fruits, balanced by subtle oak, cinnamon and vanilla from barrel aging. With a mouth-filling body and balanced acidity, this wine delivers a medium-long, refreshing finish. - Winery

Classically-styled and easy to drink, this is the perfect ldquo;wheneverrdquo; wine. Loaded with toasty almond, melon and starfruit flavors; pairs easily with many chicken, pasta and pork dishes.

A fairly rich Chardonnay whose creamy texture holds fruit-forward, smoky flavors of baked apples, grilled pineapples, vanilla, butterscotch, and dusty Asian spices.
