Shows lots of sophistication at a good price. Brimming with ripe peach and mango fruit, therersquo;s a richer streak of butter-sauteacute;ed banana, finishing with caramelized honey. The wine is quite dry, even minerally, and modest in alcohol, only 13.5%.
I like everything about this wine. Peaches, pineapples, vanilla custard and buttered toast flavors, crisp acids, a creamy, oaky veneer, a nice, long dry finish mdash; itrsquo;s all there. It doesnrsquo;t have the concentrated intensity of greater wines, but itrsquo;s very nice.
Classically-styled and easy to drink, this is the perfect ldquo;wheneverrdquo; wine. Loaded with toasty almond, melon and starfruit flavors; pairs easily with many chicken, pasta and pork dishes.
A fairly rich Chardonnay whose creamy texture holds fruit-forward, smoky flavors of baked apples, grilled pineapples, vanilla, butterscotch, and dusty Asian spices.
Wente is well known for its Wente clone, a popular sight in many a California Chardonnay vineyard. This flavorful example is compellingly rich and textured, yet modest in alcohol, with a happy apple, melon taste and a bit of an exotic lift on the finish, possibly from the 2% Gewuuml;rztraminer thatrsquo;s blended in.
This 2004 Chardonnay is a great example of the Livermore Valley terroir. The red apple fruit and medium acidity from the grape balanced with the graham cracker oak and a slight buttery finish bring together the best of both worlds, in terms of ways to craft Chardonnay.
