Winemaker's Notes:

Fermentation: At least 50% barrel fermented in neutral French oak, and 50% fermented in stainless steel tanks in order to preserve the natural fruit flavors inherent in our Livermore Valley Chardonnay. Ageing: The barrel fermented portion was aged sur lie for 9 months. Batonnage, the art of stirring the barrels, was performed monthly. The stainless steel portion was aged on lees for 9 months.

Tasting Notes:

This 2004 Chardonnay is a great example of the Livermore Valley terroir. The red apple fruit and medium acidity from the grape balanced with the graham cracker oak and a slight buttery finish bring together the best of both worlds, in terms of ways to craft Chardonnay.
