Winemaker's Notes:
Fermentation Both the Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot were fermented in upright stainless steel fermenters. The fermentation temperatures exceeded 90°F to maximize color and tannin extraction. Aging This wine was aged for 18 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels.
Tasting Notes:
The origins of Wente Vineyards’ Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon date back to when Charles Wetmore fi rst imported this clone of Cabernet to the Livermore Valley from the commune of Margaux, France. This reserve wine has wonderful aromas, a silky texture with fl avors of black fruit, plum, and cedar provided by the cabernet lots. There are additional layers with subtle hints of vanilla and toasty oak. The petit verdot adds structure through tannins, creating an elegance to the wine. The 2002 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon delivers a soft, rich taste experience.
