Wente's estate vineyards in the Livermore Valley are a prime location for Sauvignon Blanc. Warm temperatures are balanced by the cooling breezes off of the San Francisco Bay. Louis Mel came to California from France in the 1800's with vine cuttings from the famed Chateau D'Yquem in Bordeaux. The Wente's acquired the Mel estate in the 1930's and the sustainably grown vines on the estate today are descendants of those original cuttings. The 2010 named for Mon. Mel scored 90 points in the Wine Enthusiast Magazine. This 2010 is just as lush and delicious.
