External Reviews for Weingut Joh. Jos. Prum Mosel Graacher Hirmmelreich Riesling
Young and unevolved, yet this shows remarkable clarity and delicacy for 2003. Very silky in texture and bright, framing the apricot, lime and slate flavors nicely. Very harmonious, with a long, lingering aftertaste. Drink now through 2020. Wine Spectator. A Riesling wine from Mosel Saar Ruwer in Germany. 2003 Prum, Joh Jos Riesling Spatlese Wehlener Sonnenuhr 750ml
Prum is unquestionably the most renowned producer in Germany, and often his wines are candidates for best of the vintage. For starters, there is the 1990 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese, with its bouquet of vanilla, apples and minerals. In the mouth there is great fruit, beautifully etched flavors, and a long, crisp, highly extracted finish. Drink this dry Spätlese over the next 7-10 years.
A completely seductive and appealing '01 spatlese. Seamless and airy in texture, yet layered with peach, citrus and mineral aromas and flavors enmeshed in the delicate frame. Lovely finish. Drink now through 2015.
This is a gift from the fruit of the vine. To put it simply, ENJOY!
The nose provides an elegant array of fresh melon and floral aromas. On the palate, there is well-defined ripeness (mainly honeydew) complemented by lively acidity and fine mineral. The finish is remarkably long and complex right now, but it would also be interesting to see how these flavors will evolve in the years to come.
Delicate scents of fresh apple, apple jelly, honey and vanilla. Again, this is feather-light in the mouth, yet has wonderful reach and penetration of baked apple, nut oil, marzipan, slate and vanilla flavors. Really finely balanced, this shows a lot less overt sweetness than the typical young Prum Spatlese.
Elegant aromas of Bing cherry, apple blossom and roasted pine nuts. Sweet, delicate and nonetheless creamy on the palate, with sweet herbs and a touch of vanilla. Lemon curd and slate animate this serious spätlese's compelling finish.
