Wine Advocate ReviewA nobly sweet counterpart to the dry "Schieferterrassen," Lowensteins 2005 Riesling Schieferterrassen smells more brightly than the other dry 2005s, in this case of blood orange and lemon. On entry, it surprises momentarily with its soft entry, then saturates the palate with a delicate, juicy impression of blood orange, sweet lime, and licorice. Quite transparently revealing wet stone character, this finishes discretely, but with persistent juiciness and hints of white pepper and herb that remind one of a Gruner Veltliner from Lowensteins beloved Wachau.
