/ A wine of this quality for this price? Wow! Very aromatic with melons, stone fruit and flowers all discernable. The same flavors can be found in the mouth and in the long finish, where one also finds a profusion of minerals an spice.
/ Here's that penetrating bouquet of iron, gravel and gunpowder somehow coexisting with lush, ripe peaches and apricots and the requisite scent of rubber eraser. Flavors of macerated and roasted peaches and apricots are spicy and honeyed and yet almost not sweet; it's the purity and intensity of the wine, the inherent ripeness and resonance, the core of limestone, the long hanging on the vine in the autumn air that come through. If you can wait, this would best consumed from 2010 to 2015.

Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese 2010 - 95 points, Wine Spectator/ Concentrated minerality and spiciness give this plenty of power and character. Slate and granite notes are fused with very suave fruit flavors, including peach nectar, pear tart and honeydew melon. The unctuous finish is honeyed and features touches of ripeness.
S.A Prüm is a family-owned wine estate nestled on the banks of Germany’s serene Mosel River, at the heart of the country’s celebrated Mosel-Saar-Ruwer growing region. Here, the Prüm family has cultivated vines for over 200 years. The estate has been in the hands of Raimund Prüm, owner and winemaker, since 1971 when he assumed full management. Under his leadership, the property has become one of the region’s most successful wineries, boasting an international reputation for the production of exquisite Rieslings. Production Area This estate-bottled, single-vineyard Riesling is produced from grapes grown in the famed gray slate soil of the renowned Wehlener Sonnenuhr which has recently been designated an Erste Lage – or top vineyard site by the VDP. The gray slate soils of the Sonnenuhr (sundial) vineyard have a high tin content which lends minerality to the wines. Ancestor Jodocus Prüm erected the famous sundial in 1842, which became a hallmark for the mid-Mosel area. The soil of this famous domain is comprised of Devonian gray slate, and soft slate with a high tin content, which adds a distinctive, fresh minerality to the wines. This is the best vineyard in the Mosel River, with a southerly aspect. The altitude is between 130-330 meters, with a steep 60% slope. The mountains’ treeline, rising above the vineyards, blocks cold winds from entering the valley. Grape Varieties 100% Riesling Vinification Carefully selected fully-ripened, botrytis-touched grapes are hand-harvested in October. Following a period of maceration on the skins and five weeks of fermentation, the wine was aged for six months in stainless steel. The wine was then bottled under natural cork.
