Harvest Date: October 16, 2005 The 2005 vintage continues our wonderful blend of Oakville, Mt. Veeder and Pritchard Hill fruit. This year however marks a milestone for our Cabernet Sauvignon as it's the first vintage to not be 100% Cabernet. For the past few years we've been waiting on a small section of the Mt. Veeder vineyard planted to Cabernet Franc and 2005 introduces it to the blend. - This is a solid cab. lots of pepper, notes of earth (or dirt), some vegetal tones of cabbage and other mixed greens. The oak also makes a strong appearance leaving notable traces of vanilla on my palate. This wine screams for some food.....

- Remember that time, when you came home late from work and I was cooking up that spicy Szechuan meal, with all the bell peppers and black pepper spice, then I poured you that Vanilla Martini and we stared at each other while the smoke alarm went off? That was a hot night, but just juicy enough to not overpower me. . . AND THAT is exactly what this wine tastes like.

- Ryan Waugh is a fantastic young wine maker, I have had the privelage to speak with him and hear his insight on his wine making. His Cab is very deep bodied, black cherries, pepper, vanilla, and a fantastic alcohol nose. You would not think this is a Califonia Cab, unfortunally they are very hard to obtain. If you are able to get one, get many! And if you are as lucky as I was to get a Pinot Noir then you are in for a treat! His Pinot is absolutely perfect!

- The Oak Bomb, as our friend Denise said on first sip! The nose is black peppercorns and vanilla mixed with toasty oak, and there is a nice meaty component on the mouth feel. Notes of bacon blend with cherry Jolly Rancher-esque flavors on the finish. Classically tasty!

- This cab is very delicious! From the pseudo Jolly Rancher aroma (yes, sweet, but not overkill) with bright cherry hints to the flavor profile which adds some vanilla to the aroma aspects this cab is certainly fruity and sweet, but not like Hi-C juice. As such, I think this cab is a great summer time cab with its carefree fruit indulgence... while the stigma of white wines taking the reins during the warmer months constantly comes up, don't forget this tasty cab for the red wine lovers during summer as well!
