Waterford the Jem Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Winemaker's Notes:
Waterford was established in 1998 with the intention of producing the very best wines in the country. The 120-hectare wine farm, is situated between the Simonsberg and Heldeberg mountain ranges and is a joint venture between Jeremy Ord and Kevin Arnold. Jeremy Ord made a fortune in information technology while Kevin Arnold established a reputation as one of South Africa's leading winemakers during his tenure at Rust en Vrede. Waterford’s ambition has always been to make the best possible red wine from their home grown vineyards, a wine that expresses Waterford’s ethos of uncompromising quality. This wine has been ten years in the making, and is dedicated to, and named after, Jeremy Ord, the proprietor of Waterford Estate, who is fondly known as Jem to his friends and family. The wine itself has strong lead pencil and cassis notes backed by cedar and spice aromas. It has a typical Bordeaux structure, fine grained, well integrated tannins, soft and elegant. A long, refreshing and elegant finish which is classically dry. A great vintage with the wine best to drink between 2012 and 2020.
