The 2006 Chardonnay spent time in 24% new French oak with 30% of the wine going through malolactic fermentation. It is a serious Chardonnay at a bargain price.
Oaky, supple and structured, this sturdy Chardonnay is built upon clean green apple fruit and nicely layered toasty oak. It's the same formula as before: one third new French oak, one third malolactic, and nicely expresses open, fruit-driven, barrel-enhanced flavors with crisp citrus fruit.
Smooth, ripe and generous. Not a big wine, but this has pointed apple and pineapple fruit, nicely shaped with hints of cream and spice. The finish lingers well. Drink now through 2011.
