Washington Hills Riesling Late Harvest 2015

Editorial Review by Snooth Editorial:

Sage and basil aromas are unexpected on this Riesling, but the herb tones are inviting along with dried apricot and honey. Definitely a lot of sweetness here, with baked pears, fresh honey, dried apricot, some clementine freshness to liven up the palate, and a quintessentially Riesling finish complete with a touch of petrol and minerality.

Reticent on the nose with slow to grow polleny floral and fennel aromas over lime pith, sliced fennel and melon notes, with incipient hints of petrol and chalk. This is sweet in the mouth and while I'm sure there is a ton of acid here, there's little to be felt, though the texture of the wine remains lively, considering the sweetness. There's a rich mouthful of pollen-streaked apricot fruit here, with nice dashes of Meyer lemon juice and some freshening green apple notes on the back end, but the sugar keeps this a bit simple and dull. The finish is surprisingly short but does end on a nice light mineral note, with some sweet tea elements on the finale. A bit of an apricot bomb. 86pts

The color is a bit light for a late harvest wine. The nose is a gorgeous nectarine and floral combination though it is a bit too shy. Needs more acid to be balanced right. Their 2010 has more extract and is a better wine. This wine just cannot compare with the late harvest wines made in Calif during the late 70s and 80s. RS is 7%--- My rating 84

Light, fruity and not especially layered. But just right for a summer sunset. Peach aroma and peach-apricot with a tart finish. I will continue to buy this one for a weeknight table wine.

Golden in color, this wine displays aromas of fresh peaches and pears along with a slight floral fragrance. The considerable sweetness is enlivened in the mouth by hints of lemon and fresh acidity while the finish lingers on and on.

Fragrant peaches, sugar cane and floral notes give way to flavors of mangos and peaches. bright acidity leads to a crisp finish with lingering fruit.
