Washington Hills Riesling 2011

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Fairly sweet smelling on the nose with apple fruit accented by hints of jelly candies that recall blackberries and lime. This is noticeably sweet though there is plenty of acidity to help keep this balanced, if not bright. This trades some brightness for richness of fruit and depth of flavor. It’s a bit of a fruit bomb but I like the combination of orchard fruit with citrus and berry accents. Super fun to drink with a finish that is moderately long and continues the fruit flavor interplay while layering on a nice hint of minerality. Bing Bing Bing, we have a winner. 88pts

Any noticeable amount of sweetness in this wine can be attributed to the tropical fruit, with melon, pineapple and banana taking the lead. Pear, lychee, apricot, green grape skin (it really covers most bases, as far as the fruit goes) and moderate minerality. No oak (as is common with most wines in this style), so as to preserve the vibrancy of the fruit. Crisp and refreshing is the name of the game!

Bright and bursting with lime zest and mineral essence on the nose. Wonderful crispness compliments the creamy texture surrounded by key lime and creme brulee sugar notes. Upfront acidity gives way to lingering nectarines.
