Warre Port Blend Porto Vintage Quinta da Cavadinha 2000
Very dark purple in colour, inky and concentrated. Lovely fresh aromas of violets, layer and layer of ripe blackberry fruit, intensely rich and very full bodied. Sweetness and tannins bind this wine together to form a perfect harmonious structure, a wine which has all the potential to age well into the 2nd half of the 21st century.
The first night I opened this wine, it was massive and closed. On the second night, it opened up. It was expressive and expansive on the palate. What a beautiful Port for the price! It has a long finish with blackberry and blueberry jam flavors.
This is the benchmark for LBV's from my albeit limited experience. Tastes better than lower end (i.e. $40-$50) vintage port. It blew away Taylor Fladgate's similarly priced 2005 LBV (their 2003 was better but I'm out of that) in a blind taste test and is the best LBV I've ever had. Prunes, plums, berries, leather, and earth. Yummy! I'm going to try to stock up while it's available.

An unprecedented low yield contributed to the marvelous concentration of the wines produced in this vintage. The very low bunch weight and the fact that the berries themselves were very small also meant that there was much less juice than usual relative to the amount of skins. Consequently even more extraction of color and flavors was possible than in other years. Ideal weather during the vintage with cool nights followed by hot days added the finishing touch to the variety of factors which culminated in a classic year. At least 5 years (we recommend up to 20) in the cellar will reward the purchaser with a great wine.
Majestic Port in its purple vestments, this vintage of Warreandrsquo;s 2000 is classical and complete. Often the most immediately accessible of the Symingtonandrsquo;s vintage range, Warreandrsquo;s offers a bright, gripping richness, sweet and open. Itandrsquo;s enjoyable now for the jasmine and other floral aspects of the fruit, yet at ten or twenty years from the vintage, it will be that much more satisfying.
Straightforward yet intense, ripe black raspberry liqueur and cassis scents are followed by a medium to full-bodied, elegant, restrained, balanced port with moderately high tannin as well as outstanding purity. It is a vintage port with impeccable finesse. Anticipated maturity: 2007andndash;2020.
Complex aromas of milk chocolate, sweet berries and flowers lead to a full body, with medium sweetness and a long, caressing finish. This is as fine as an aged Vintage Port. Bottled in 2004 and matured in bottle in Warre's cellars until now. Decant b... Wine Spectator. A Port wine from Douro in Portugal. 2000 Warre Late Bottled Vintage Port 750ml
Warre has been making exceptionally fine ports of late, and their 1985 is the sweetest and richest of their recent vintages. Extremely concentrated, rich, even luscious, this full-bodied, intense, opulent wine has layers of fruit, a full-blown bouquet, and impeccable balance. The soft tannins and precocious appeal of the 1985 suggest rapid maturation.
Medium ruby. Enticing aromas of cassis, lilac, licorice and mint. Rich, sweet and nicely concentrated; floral and dark berry flavors are fresh and pure. Stylish and seamless. Finishes with even, fine tannins and very good persistence.
Deep, rich ruby colour. On the nose burstingwith lovely black fruit combined with a spicycomplexity. Warre's 2000 LBV has a palate ofunderlying richness and intensity with wellrounded blackberry fruit and wonderfullystructured tannins which lead to a long andlingering finish.
