Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

I've always been a fan of Warre's but this 2007 might very well be their best vintage ever. At this stage tasting these wines is more of an intellectual exercise. This smells of graphite, dried berry fruits, dates, flowers, and peppery spice. On the palate this is focused, rich and yet impeccably balanced with endless notes of blackberry, wood spice, fermented tea, dried fruit all piled on a lightly sweet, quite tannic framework. Actually this is probably sweeter than it seems though at this stage the great acidity and aggressive tannins might be helping to balance out the sugar. This is going to be a virtually ageless port, at least for people over 40. A brilliant effort. 96pts

The 2007 Warre Vintage Port is one of the stars of the vintage. A glass-coating opaque purple color it displays an expressive bouquet of Asian spices incense lavender blackberry and fruitcake. Plush on the palate with outstanding volume it exhibits a sense of elegance as well as power. Savory flavors plenty of structure for the long haul and a lengthy fruit-filled finish suggests two decades of cellaring are in order. This superb effort should still be drinking well in 2050. -Jay Miller Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

Offers lovely perfumed aromas and beautiful raspberry and blackberry character, turning to tar, black truffle and wet earth. Full-bodied and medium sweet, with a balance of very chewy tannins and sugary fruit at the finish. This goes on and on. The great 1994 again? Best after 2020.

I love the nose on this, with blackberry, black licorice, and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, medium sweet and very, very dense. What seductive mouthfeel, with polished, round tannins that caress the palate. This may be better than the fantastic 1994. Wine Spectator. This wine has a very deep, almost opaquepurple core, with a rich garnet rim. Earthy andracy on the nose showing a rich plumy andpeppery character. Youthful, fresh and fruityon the palate, still very 'big'. Full, long finish.
