High Pass Winery is located in the southern portion of the Willamette Valley, 15 miles northwest of Eugene, Oregon. Nestled into the valley side of the Coast mountain range, the High Pass vineyards are ideally suited to producing exceptional pinot noir, renowned pinot gris, and remarkable dessert wine varietals. High Pass is the definition of handcrafted. Being a small volume producer by choice, winemaker Dieter Boehm is personally involved in all aspects of vineyard and winery operations. Whether it is propagating new vineyard starts, planting, pruning, the harvest, crush, fermentation, aging or bottling , Dieter has a hands-on involvement, ensuring that each and every step meets his exacting standards. Each time you try a bottle of High Pass wine, you'll know what we mean! High Pass Winery uses grapes from three vineyards: High Pass Vineyard Priddy Vineyard, and Walnut Ridge Vineyard. All vineyards are near the winery site and are managed by the winemaker. Elevation ranges from 450 to 750 feet with Bellpine the predominant soil. Vine spacing is 5 X 7 feet, representing a modern European viticulture approach, yielding high quality wines at attractive prices. Dieter Boehm is the winemaker at High Pass Winery. He founded High Pass Vineyard in 1984 on a 20 acre parcel of land west of Junction City, Oregon. Vines were planted in 1985 and a few years later started producing some of the premium wine grapes that has gained Oregon international acclaim.. Dieter found the local wineries willing buyers of his early crops, but he always made sure there were enough grapes left for him to learn about winemaking. High Pass Winery's first commercial crush occurred in 1994 at Broadley Vineyards. One year later, the modest facilities at High Pass were licensed and the first crush took place with Dieter Boehm at the helm! Read less
