Waipara Hills Chardonnay 2011

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

With subtle oak, herb, floral and apricot aromas, this is nice on the nose in a gentle and fun style. In the mouth it’s a bit loose and easy, and noticeably sweet. A very by-the-glass program style of wine. 83pts

Vintage: 2004 02/28/2009

The Waipara Hills Chardonnay sports a pale yellow color with hints of green. Leading to a nose of tropical aromas of melon flavours run through the palate. Moderate weight and a beautiful texture, yet with a crisp finish. On the palate: Fresh apple and melon flavours run through the palate. Moderate weight and a beautiful texture, yet with a crisp finish. Serve: Peek drinking: 2009 - 2012Viticulture: All the fruit for this wine came from the Glasnevin Vineyard, in behind the winery in Waipara.Vintage: Cooler conditions and some heavy rain meant plenty of work bringing in the fruit all at once, but the stable and warm summer produced great flavours and aromatics.Maturation: 100% matured in older oak barrels, no MLF.
