Vosne Romanee Joseph Drouhin 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2014 Vosne Romanée was completely destemmed and spent 16 months in oak. It has a refined fresh strawberry and Morello cherry bouquet. The nose is quite refined with fine tannin, well balanced with finesse on the mannered finish. Delicate but lovely...89-91" Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate 12/15 89+ Points, John Gilman: "The Drouhin village wine bottlings are getting better and better with each passing vintage and their 2014 Vosne AC is excellent. This hails from four different parcels of vines, with one up above Malconsorts on the slope, two down by the Route Nationale and a bit of the premier cru les Chaumes blended in as well. The bouquet is pure and already very inviting, as it wafts from the glass in a blend of cherries, red plums, cocoa, a lovely base of soil and just a hint of nutty new oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and quite sappy at the core, with a wide open attack, modest tannins and fine focus and grip on the long and tangy finish. A lovely example. 2018-2045.

Domaine Drouhin has been on the viticultural cutting edge in Oregon since our first plantings, and we continue to set the pace. The 90 acres of hillside vineyards that ribbon our 225-acre estate are at the very heart of Domaine Drouhin wines. Philippe Drouhin is in charge of all of the estate vineyards in Oregon & Burgundy & it is his vision & passion that drives our advances & improvements in winegrowing year after year. Situated atop the Dundee Hills, between 400 and 800 feet in elevation, our site was selected for its remarkable similarity in climate, latitude and aspect to the legendary vineyards of Burgundy. DDO places more emphasis on viticulture than most producers in America. Our vines are perhaps the most densely-planted in the New World, with an average of 3,300 plants to the acre. We are also one of the few vineyards in the country to cultivate our own rootstocks and propagate all of our own plant materials. This allows us to further our vineyards with site specific rootstocks and plants. Read less
