Tasted at Geneva wine tasting 4/18/2010.
Classically styled, but with some problematic acid, and far too little on the aftertaste. Won't cellar as well as it ought to at the pricepoint.

Winery notes: Only the darkest most extracted lots from our estate vineyards are used in making this wine. This wine is deep in color. Aromas of cassis cocoa powder vanilla and sarsaparilla are interwoven with flavors of black currant dried plums and cherries and chocolate. Dense with a slightly sweet finish that lingers on. Varietal Make-up: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon 15% Petit Verdot 5% Merlot.
A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 2005 Von Strasser Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Vineyards Diamond Mountain 750ml
Winery Notes:A selection of the best lots off the mountain estate vineyard the 2005 is rich and age-worthy. Blended with a small amount of Petit Verdot and Merlot it shows sweetly ripe flavors of black currents cherries dark chocolate and plums with smoky vanilla new oak nuances. The tannins are pure mountain Napa dense and defined. Drink now through 2015.
Bright ruby-red. Deep aromas of black raspberry, minerals, flowers, cola and spicy oak. Concentrated, bright and sweet, with lovely spicy lift to the flavors of crystallized dark berries and chocolate. Offers impressive balance and enticing sweetness. Finishes broad, ripe, lush and long, with plenty of fine-grained tannins. An excellent example of Diamond Mountain cabernet.
Iandrsquo;m a big fan of Von Strasserandrsquo;s Diamond Mountain Cabernets andmdash; their quality consistently goes far beyond the price point. The Post vineyard is young and restrained now but shows outstanding potential for short or long term cellaring. Elegant and richly layered with black currant, chocolate, olives and briary black raspberries. A fresh, untampered style of winemaking shines through the purity and intensity of the fruit. A classic.
