Winery notes: Only the darkest most extracted lots from our estate vineyards are used in making this wine. This wine is deep in color. Aromas of cassis cocoa powder vanilla and sarsaparilla are interwoven with flavors of black currant dried plums and cherries and chocolate. Dense with a slightly sweet finish that lingers on. Varietal Make-up: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon 15% Petit Verdot 5% Merlot.
Firm and intense, with earthy tannins wrapped around tight currant, mineral, anise and herbal sage notes that add up to a complex medley of flavors. Well-balanced, with the tannins providing structure. Best from 2009 through 2012.
A clean and gentle cabernet, this grows at a vineyard with relatively deep, red volcanic soils at the base of Diamond Mountain. Itandrsquo;s adjacent to Rudy von Strasserandrsquo;s estate, and he has managed the vines since planting them in 1992. The 2004 includes 10 percent merlot and five percent petit verdot, which creates a complex layering of fruit andmdash; brisk blueberry above, darker currant underneath, spreading over tannins that lend earthiness and scents of black tea. An elegant wine to enjoy now for its freshness, or to cellar for a decade.
