Von Hovel Balduin Von Hovel Estate Riesling 2007
Wine Enthusiast Review Rated 90 EDITORS CHOICE A terrific value, Von Hovel's basic Riesling offers consumers a chance to taste the mineral nature of the Saar's terroir. Notes of slate are almost smoky in their intensity, while the fruit is vibrant and laser-etched in its precision. The apple and lime flavors are delivered aboard a creamy-textured palate, balanced by crisp acids on the off-dry finish. Wine Tasting Notes Always an excellent value, and this year is no exception. The wine has pear aromas, followed by a round mouth with good acidity to support the raspberry flavors, and pineapple on the finish. Great to enjoy on its own, but also great with salads and spicy dishes including fusion cuisine.

Wines from the Saar are maked by their steely acidity and clean, tangy fruit. This offering is no exception with lots of citrus on the nose and great balance on the palate. If you've been finding Mosel Rieslings a bit cloying of late, try this crisp wine from the Saar.
