Food Pairings for Voerzio Roberto Barolo la Serra
Editorial Reviews for Voerzio Roberto Barolo la Serra
Nice notes of macerated flowers greets the nose along with wood spice, toasty oak, and some balsamic top notes. Nicely rich and powerful on entry with good clarity on the palate and lots of ripe fruit supported by nice ripe tannins lending this a broad and yet transparent feel on the palate. This shows a little oxidation on the backend with a little rusty edge and finishes fairly short, though this shows some potential. A bit chunky and fruity. 88pts
This got a little lost in tonight's line-up. It offered up a big, fruity nose with touches of poop, leather and woodspice but in a simpler and decidely more fruit driven tone than the Giacosas. The mouthfeel was soft with lots of very ripe tannins and adeuquate acidity. There was solid if slightly simple fruit that had a touch of an extracted feel and the tannins seem a bit incongruous, especially paired as this was with the brilliant bottle of 1988 Giacosa Villero. The fruit here is surprisingly black toned with a candied blackberry quality. The finish shows some incipient complexity with emerging tones of truffle, mushroom and flowers though for a 1985 this is rather immature and unevolved. I wonder what will happen here. It's worth watching and may very likely warrant a higher score in the future. 20010-2020 90pts
It pays to have very generous and crazy friends who are willing to bring you a bottle of Barolo in a suitcase all the way from Northern Europe. Beautiful dark purple, with a bit of brown on it as well. Strong fruity flavors (strawberry) coming off the nose. Smooth mouth-feel and satisfying fruit, mainly strawberry. Incredible long finish. Amazing tannins, solid after-taste of strawberries. This is a GREAT wine. Decant or let this wine sit opened for a bit before you really dig in – it opens up!
Perfect ruby red colour with much lighter hues, the Barolo La Serra has an interesting nose of chocolate, cherries and spicebox. The palate is very tannic, aggressive and austere it clearly needs more time. R.V Barolo La Serra is normally better than this, for me, and considering the price, this is a pass.

The 2009 Barolo La Serra impresses for its finesse and balance. There is so much fruit in the 2009 that the angular tannins typical of this site are virtually buried. Sweet floral notes intermingled with mint raspberries and rose petals all add lift and freshness on the finish. The 2009 opens up beautifully with time in the glass. Today it is wonderfully vivid and alive in the glass. Drink 2017 - 2029 Antonio Galloni.

The 2008 Barolo La Serra emerges from the glass with dark red fruit, tar, smoke, licorice, spices and new leather. Today the 2008 comes across as surprisingly dark and masculine. Subtle aromas of blueberries and porcini mushrooms follow through to a full body with soft and silky tannins and a delicate chocolate and berry aftertaste. Hard not to drink now but will improve with age. James Suckling.
What a surprise. Best La Serra ever from here. Perfection. This is really ripe, with dark and dried fruits. Almost raisiny, with grilled meat too. Full bodied, with an insane amount of power and fruit. Incredible depth and power. Mind blowing. Such p... James Suckling. A Nebbiolo wine from Piedmont in Italy. 2007 Roberto Voerzio Barolo la Serra 750ml
The 2004 Barolo La Serra reveals a generous personality in its dark red fruit with notable depth and richness that carries through to the persistent, sweet finish. With air, floral notes develop to round out this particularly multi-dimensional, full-bodied and beautiful La Serra. 2004 is a great vintage for this wine, which can sometimes be austere. Anticipated maturity: 2009andndash;2022.
Offers aromas of blackberry, licorice and tar. Intense and full-bodied, with a wonderful concentration of fruit, supersilky tannins and a complex finish of pure fruit and Indian spices. Superb for the vintage. Best after 2012.
