Viticcio Chianti Classico 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

"Chianti Classico Viticcio is produced from registered vines grown on the estate in accordance with stipulated norms of DOCG production. The principal grape variety is Tuscan Sangiovese. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with frequent pumping over to enhance the extraction of tannins and colour. In accordance with tradition, the wine is aged in medium-sized oak barrels for about 12 months, followed by bottle ageing in temperature-controlled cellars for a minimum of three months before being released onto market. Deep red ruby colour with good hue and intensity. Fruity, refined and elegant with great forest fruits taste, combined with hints of various spices. Tasty on the palate with light tannin and a lasting tinge." - Distributor's Notes

Cherries, berries, a mildly acidic quality. Simple and pleasant enough. Much better with food. No real complexity, but easy to drink.

gone through a case now, mostly with meat sauce linguini, a great pair for this. It's a heavy wine with very ripe fruit, my seller has it for US$14, a total steal at that price

The 2009 Chianti Classico is gorgeous. An open, warm bouquet leads to sweet red fruit, crushed flowers and spices in this radiant Chianti Classico. The wine shows plenty of inner perfume through to the round, harmonious finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012–2019.

Bright, medium ruby-red. Refined aromas of blackberry, black cherry, lead pencil and espresso. Thick and impressively concentrated, but also shows lovely clarity to its dark berry and cherry flavors thanks to firm acidity. Finishes sweet, lush and long, with ripe tannins and a lingering black pepper nuance.

A frequent favorite, the Viticcio is a traditionally-styled Chianti with lots of earth and mineral notes. Perfect for pairing.

A tasty mix of cherry, spice and tobacco notes, with a touch of rhubarb. There's moderate grip and a firm finish. Drink now through 2012.

This Chianti’s simple grape flavors of strawberry and tomato show some warmth of acidity and alcohol. Pour it with pepperoni pizza.

Shows a lot of bright cherry and berry character, with hints of coffee. Full-bodied, with fine, well-integrated tannins, clean acidity and a long finish. Drink now.
