Viridian Pinot Noir Olsen Family Vineyard 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2006 Viridian Pinot Noir from the Olsen Family Vineyardsis made in a classic style that is familiar to wine drinkers throughoutthe world. Emphasis is on a wine that exhibits the strong character ofthe lush dark blue (some say black) Pinot Noir grapes that only thevineyards in the Willamette Valley of Oregon seem to be able to deliverconsistently. The Olsen vineyard sites are exceptional even in thiswell known region. The 2006 Pinot Noir has a deep, rich ruby color that makes it almostimpossible to see through the glass. It exhibits an intense aroma ofdark cherries and pomegranates that develop into a strong depth offlavor. It lingers on the tongue and finishes with a hint of spice inthe background. Be careful though, this wine could just "knock yoursocks off" as one taster put it. The 2006 Viridian Pinot Noiris a medium, full bodied wine which is not heavy, but has the strengthto linger with red meats and strong spicy cuisine. Serve it withsteaks, chops or to enhance the strongest and most intense dishes. Youmight even open a bottle and savor it on its own to add pleasure to acozy evening."Winery Notes

ROLLING HILLS, FERTILE VALLEYS and lush stretches of green as far as the eye can see, describe the Willamette Valley. This breathtakingly beautiful vale, with rich soils and long gentle growing seasons, is one of the premier wine growing regions in the world. Our family has farmed this Valley for five generations, planting grass seed, berries, hazelnut trees, and now grapes. Vineyards in the Willamette Valley AVA are renowned for complex, expressive and earthy wines. In the midst of this pastoral landscape lie our five vineyards totaling 300 acres within our 12,000 acre land estate. Within our estate, we’ve searched out the best vineyard sites and soil types. We are committed to producing the most intense, concentrated grapes possible. Our goal is simple; the best grapes make the best wine. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Nice wine. Varietally correct with bright fruit and good acid. A wonderful value.
